Murphy Photo and Drone Service is based in Salem and proudly serves our neighbors throughout Southern Illinois. Our primary service area includes cities such as Salem, Centralia, Mount Vernon, Vandalia, Odin, Iuka, Kinmundy, Sandoval, Dix, and nearby communities.

We frequently work across Marion, Clinton, Jefferson, Fayette, Wayne, and Clay counties.

Need us a little farther out? We also travel to Bond, Effingham, Washington, Perry, Jackson, Williamson, Franklin, Johnson, Saline, and Hamilton counties.
A small travel fee may apply for locations outside our primary area.
About Me
Hi, I'm Steve Murphy — owner of Murphy Photo and Drone Service, based in Salem, Illinois and serving Southern Illinois and beyond.

Before launching my photography and drone business, I spent 40 years working in IT, including serving as an IT Site Manager for multiple hospitals in nearby Mount Vernon and Centralia. That experience not only sharpened my technical skills — it shaped the way I approach every project: with precision, professionalism, and a strong commitment to service.

I’ve always been drawn to the technical side of things, and photography is no different. From mastering camera gear and lighting to flying drones and editing footage, I love the challenge of combining art and technology to produce clean, compelling visuals. Whether I’m capturing a cozy bungalow or a sprawling stretch of farmland, I focus on the details that matter — because those details help sell the story.

What sets me apart? Attention to detail, quick turnaround times, and extra services that go beyond just snapping photos. I take great satisfaction in seeing a listing go from “Just Listed” to “Under Contract” — and knowing I played a part in making that happen.
