What We Inspect and Why
A home inspection is a visual examination of the home's major structure, systems, and components that are visible and safely accessible. Buying a home is typically the biggest investment you will ever make, so it's important to get a home inspection because the inspector can find and document defects that may or may not be obvious to you as a prospective buyer. Such defects can range from simple replacements or repairs to severe damage or safety and health concerns.
Meet Your Inspector
Steve Murphy
My name is Steve Murphy. I am an Illinois licensed and InterNACHI certified home inspector. I intend to provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision about the property being inspected. This will be done in a clear, concise, and professional manner. I will deliver a detailed electronic report within two working days of the inspection, usually within 24 hours. Optionally, I'm available to meet with you in person near the end of the inspection to show you my findings and describe both the positive aspects of the property, the visible defects and why they are important.
In addition to the typical tool belt, I have the following tools available for use: thermal imaging camera, digital moisture meter, DJI drone, crawlspace crawler/robot, digital cameras. Thermal Imaging is included with every home inspection.
A little more about me; I've been the Information Technology Manager for two nearby hospitals the past 20+ years. Additionally, I've been a member of the Salem Fire Protection District for the past 40+ years. I currently hold the rank of Deputy Assistant Chief.
I am proud to serve Salem, Illinois, Marion County and the surrounding communities.
My Promise
Choosing the right home inspector can be difficult. Unlike most professionals you hire, you probably won't meet me until our appointment. Furthermore, different inspectors have varying qualifications, equipment, experience, reporting methods, and pricing.
Ultimately, a thorough home inspection depends heavily on the individual inspector’s own effort. If you honor me by permitting me to inspect your new home, I guarantee that I will give you my very best effort.
This, I promise you.
